Disney Cars Toons – Co-Director Inteview

Unidentified Flying Mater

With the up comming release of the Disney Cars Toon short , Unidentified flying Mater, this Holday season on the ABC-Disney Channel , i have found an interview with co-directors Rob Gibbs and Victor Navon on Disney Cars Toys Blog.

The new short would tell the story of the unusuall encounter between our old friend Mater with a flaying Saucer named Mator .

As the previous stories , in Mater’s Tall Tales , Mater takes another identity and lands in an unusuall location with his best friend , Lightning McQueen.

The new short is only one out of 3 new Cars Toon shorts that would be released before the Sequel , Cars 2 – World Grand Prix.

It’s amazing , since the release of the Disney Cars Movie  in 2006 , thousands of different toys were sold in stores world wide. Additional Disney Cars toys are sent out  almost every month with new Disney Cars Toons shorts and the future release of Cars 2 , World Grand Prix in 2011.

Die cast cars get their name from the manufacturing process – the car is made of metal (mostly aluminium) that was molded into a cast and painted when it cooled.
The first die cast cars were manufactured as early as the 1900s in the United Kingdom and the United states . The early models were of poor quality , and this is the main reason why the one produced before World War II are so hard to find. They had no interiors and no movable parts – just one complete cast.
As their popularity grew , more companies started manufacturing these cars and greater attention was put into detail and quality. One of the main producers of today’s die cast cars is Mattel , the manufacturer of Disney Cars Toys – the Pixar animated feature from 2006.
Though most of the die cast cars that were created in the past are replicas of existing cars , airplanes , tractors or trains – the Disney cars diecast have eyes on their windshields and wheels as hands.
In the past die cast cars were used by a large number of companies as an advertising tool , targeting the adult collectors or the children that have some influence on family decisions. Among these companies you can findMcDonald , Kodak and Coca Cola.
Die cast cars come in different scales – starting from 1:87 (very small) to 1:12 (very large models – around 13 inch long) , their prices vary based on the size , the detail , and of course the number of items available from that series . Some die cast cars were sold in thousands of dollars while new die cast cars like Disney Cars Diecast can be found online starting from $2.99. Some of the Disney Cars Toys are running out of stock and are getting increasing attention from collectors today , but nothing to worry about Disney announced that the sequel Cars 2 is going to be released in 2012 – so more products are going to be released in the future.
